The funeral prayer for the World-renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, was held today, 28th November 2025, at the Central Eid Ground in Bauchi metropolis, attracting an unprecedented crowd of mourners from within and outside the country.

The prayer which commenced at exactly 4:30 pm was led by Sheikh Sharif Ibrahim Sale, one of the respected leaders of the Tijjaniyya Order, who delivered prayers for the repose of the late scholar’s soul. Various delegations of Ulama, Islamic clerics, and religious leaders from several African countries and beyond were also present to pay their last respect.

The solemn event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Security Adviser, and Governors of Bauchi, Kano, Niger, and Adamawa, among others. Traditional rulers present at the funeral included the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sunusi the second alongside other Emirs and Chiefs from nooks and crannies of the country.

The Commissioner of Policy, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS), National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abubakar Yagawal, who was among the early callers in Bauchi yesterday, represented the commission. He joined thousands of mourners to honor the late Sheikh. Speaking to journalists during the funeral, Professor Yagawal described the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as “a monumental loss to the entire Muslim Ummah, Nigeria, and the global Islamic community.”

While extending the condolences of the NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, and the entire staff of the commission, Professor Yargawal prayed that Almighty Allah will forgive the late scholar’s shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. He also prayed for strength and comfort for the family, students, followers, and millions who benefitted from the Sheikh’s teachings.

The burial marked the end of an era for one of Africa’s most influential Islamic scholars, an icon of spirituality, knowledge, peace, and unity whose footprints will remain indelible for generations to come.
